President's Report:

Welcome to the first business meeting of the fall. We have some appointed offices:
Social chair: Br. Hignite
Philanthropy chair: Br. Barber
Historian: Br. Hignite
Webmaster: Br. Foster
Librarian: Br. Wilson
ASK Liason:
Athletic Chair: Br. Brant
Alumni Relations Chair:
IFC Representative:
Song Leader:

Earlier in the summer, I asked all officers to write officer reports, due the first business meeting (today). I don't expect them now, but I'd like to make sure everyone knows they're supposed to be working on them.

Involvement fair was today; I did not go, but Br. Hignite went.

For the past several semesters, we've been having aftermeeting right after business meeting. Should we keep that, or take about 45 minutes between the two? Vote on it at aftermeeting.

LATE: I'm going to put some new policies in.

I am typing what I am saying. This is my first meeting as secretary, so I apologize for any problems with the minutes.

Recruit. Chair:

From Br. Browder: Br. Sanders says that we should not be relying on advertising, and instead going out, meeting people, and making friends. Everyone should have 5 contacts in the first week as a goal. Welcome will be on Wednesday, September 1st. Cookout will be next weekend, and it will not be an official rush event.

Br. Browder and I came up with a plan to split into four teams based on availability and past academics, where each team earns points, mainly based on GPA, partially based on going to study sessions and talking with professors. Pizza party for the highest scorers! I think this would encourage people to study in groups. How/when are we going to choose the teams?

The plan to get the Event Horizon done this semester is going; the goal is to have two articles in the first two weeks. I think it will be ready by banquet.

Work day went okay. Not many people showed up, but there wasn't much to do. I'll get a chart up soon.

From Br. Browder: We don't have one. We will discuss this at aftermeeting.

Resident Manager:
Make sure you don't break stuff. If stuff gets dirty, clean it.

Appointer Officer Reports:

Social Chair:

ASK/Triangle Liaison:

Philanthropy Chair:
I've been thinking about trying to get a philanthropy event, maybe Shack-A-Thon. Do you want it to be brothers only, or have it with ASK? Or maybe both; we are not limited to one per semester. Votes are in; if we only do one, it will be brothers-only.

The Tests Archive is almost up. I'll give you guys access very soon.

Old Business:
Old minutes passed, including the 2009 ones.

New Business:
Br. Wilson: Regarding the A/C on the second floor, and also in general, we hate Randy Woods. I want to communicate to him that we want him to do something. Considering that he's never in his office, I would like to start a petition to have him removed, or get him to do stuff, and have everyone in the manor sign it.
Br. Hignite: We still have dick-shaped power washer marks on the front walkway!

Br. Estes:
I'm moving out.

Br. Powers:
Summer was fun.

Br. Bruce:
I need a job. Another one.

Br. Wilson:
I guess I'm an alumnus now. I'm going to be really busy this semester, and I'm trying to graduate with honors.

Br. Browder:
I will also be awesomely busy this semester. I have really hard classes, and I'm working, and I'm President. That is all.

Br. Smith: - LATE
I'm sad that I had to leave my internship, it was actually somewhat fun.

Br. Brant:
I've been doing a lot of working, and I'm going to keep doing that. I'm also going to be quite busy.

Br. Schlupp:
Back in Norman!

Br. Foster:
Summer was fun. Not looking forward to school.

Br. Miller:
For all the jobs I've applied at, I wish at least one of them would give me an interview, or even glance at my resume.

Br. Barber:
I flew a car this summer. *High-fives Br. Foster.*

Br. Collins:
Nice tie, Br. Browder. Well, if anyone was wondering where I was for the past day and a half, I finally beat the Starcraft 2 campaign on Normal. School starts tomorrow... yay. Thank you so much, whoever put up that list of approved majors; very handy to finally see who we can bid and who we can't.

Br. Hignite:
I won't be around as much as last semester.

Br. Nguyen:
Summer was interesting. Still going with my internship, so we'll see if I can juggle that and school.

Screw the second floor!

Member of the Week: Whoever got people going to Involvement Fair.

Quote of the Week: "I assume you have some sort of mattress system going on." -Br. Bruce
